Shakespearean Sonnet
I watch the sun drop slowly down the sky
to end the day that started hours ago
to leave me left with only now a sigh
that shows that there is someone still below.
.
The next to come to me, from far above,
has changed its face so many times yet not
enough to take my mind from thoughts of love
that seems to be so often what I sought.
.
Besides the moon who comes and goes I see
the stars that faintly flash from far away.
They silently watch all below, so free
to watch me sleep and wait for my next day.
.
Remembering each day the night before,
I know they'll be one day I'll have no more.

.
.
